When you are faced with painful circumstances and difficult choices, do you turn to someone who has never been in a similar position for advice and comfort? Or do you turn to someone who has been through it before, who understands first-hand what it's like? Judges 3—a difficult chapter about weakness, oppression, assassination, indulgence and a bathroom—offers us proof that God doesn't flinch when it comes to being honest about the problems in our world, and Christ shows us that he doesn't hesitate to suffer alongside us.
