The gospel doesn’t just tell us that the world around us is broken—its assurance of God’s love also gives us the strength and courage necessary to take an honest look at ourselves. When we do, we may discover wounds that run deeper than we expected or struggles that are larger than we know how to handle.

In these times, we have the comfort of knowing that God wants to bring healing even to the most broken areas of our lives. Grace DC’s counseling services are one resource available to help you work through acute struggles or difficulties. Our staff counselors, Jim Badorrek and Dr. Jackie Griffith, provide compassionate, professional help from a biblical perspective.

Our staff counselors and our referring partners in the DC metro area are available by appointment. You can find more information, including availability, fees and insurance information, below.

Staff Counselors

Grace Downtown has two counselors on staff.

Jackie Griffith, Ph.D.

Dr. Jackie Griffith is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.A.) and the University of Pittsburgh (M.Ed., Ph.D.). She does individual counseling with men and women experiencing depression, anxiety and various pressing issues, including difficulties from childhood, relationship struggles and the need for spiritual guidance. She also offers counseling to couples ranging from pre-engagement through marriage counseling. Dr. Griffith also offers mindfulness techniques gleaned from her study of inter-personal neurobiology, which can be useful tools in dealing with emotional issues and supporting our need for thoughtfulness. She currently teaches marriage counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary and speaks at various retreats and conferences. She has been married for over 30 years to Dr. Howard Griffith, professor of Systematic Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary. They previously served All Saints Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA and have raised five children together.

Premarital Counseling

Preparing for Marriage Seminar

To start the process of premarital counseling, our Preparing for Marriage seminar series lays the groundwork before premarital counseling. We welcome anyone pondering those “long term” questions in their relationship to take this class; you are not required to be engaged or dating to attend this seminar.

› Look for our list of upcoming classes and seminars.

After taking that seminar, Grace Downtown members can pursue premarital counseling with one of our pastors as schedules allow. Due to the high number of marriages in our community, we are only able to provide counseling and perform marriage ceremonies for members of Grace Downtown.
