Children’s Ministries

Nursery Care is provided during the service for infants up to one year old, and for toddlers 1-3 years old in the Children’s Wing on the ground floor of Calvary Baptist.

Christian Education
for for ages 4-11 years is held at 3:45pm in the Children’s Church room of the Children’s Wing on the ground floor.

Nursery

Grace DC’s Nursery is committed to providing a safe, nurturing Christian atmosphere for the youngest members of our church family. We seek to care for our infants and toddlers (0-3 years) in a way that contributes to their well-being, complementing the nurture they receive at home. We also strive to show them God’s love and foster their receptiveness to the Gospel message and the teachings of God’s Word. We hope that our loving care for the little ones in our community will enable parents to participate fully in worship and to become an active part of our community.

We also take seriously the vows we make at baptisms as a community to help raise these kids in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord”. Accordingly, each Grace DC member serves in the nursery about once every six months. Please contact Children’s Ministry Administrator Emily for more information.

Children’s Church

The Children’s Church ministry is a vital building block for the future of Grace DC and the life of the universal church. We are in constant need of builders to help lay that foundation in our children and to pray for them regularly.

Designed for ages 4-11 years old, class takes place each week during the Sunday service (the children are dismissed about halfway through the service). During class, the lesson is filled with a variety of activities, memory verses, songs, crafts and snacks. Children learn about the nature of God and who Jesus is through lessons designed to be simple enough to grasp yet challenging enough to linger in their hearts.

We have many volunteers who share the privilege of teaching our children. If you are interested in becoming a part of this very special team, you will be asked to serve once every 3 months or so.

Please contact Children’s Church coordinator Cindy Moore if you have any further questions about the program or are interested in volunteering.

“Sermon Quest”

- Children’s Learning Guide
For those kids who will be sitting through the sermon, we provide a small guide to help them understand and interact with the sermon, aimed at kids ages 10 and up. You can pick one up from the Info Table in the lobby, or ask a greeter where to find them. Click here to view a sample PDF.

Christian Education

Like a “community group” for kids, our children’s Christian Education class seeks to train children early in life that Bible study should be a priority and is worth our time and effort.

Our teachers are working through the Shorter Catechism with the children, ages three through second grade, to build on what they already know about God and help them to apply it to their world of school and playtime and tea parties. For more information or to get involved, contact Allison Merritt.

Moms’ Bible Study meets Thursday mornings during the school year, 10am-12pm at Calvary Baptist in Kendall Hall 3 & 4 (ground floor, under sanctuary). Childcare is provided. Parking is located in the large lot at 9th & H Streets, but Metro is recommended. Fliers are available on the Info Table in the lobby on Sundays. Contact Meg Hoburg for more info. Note: last meeting before Summer Break is May 22, restarting September 4! See you then!
