Grace DC

Community / Membership

Membership

Grace DC is a community that welcomes people of all spiritual dispositions—seekers, skeptics, and followers alike. We are committed to walking with every person wherever they are in their spiritual journey, and, in the case of those looking into the Christian faith, for however long they need to investigate Jesus and his claims.

For those who are followers of Jesus and have been a part of Grace DC for several months, however, we urge you to consider committing yourself to our community through church membership. We believe it’s important for everyone who embraces Jesus to embrace his “body” on earth as well — to be fully engaged in the worship, people, and mission of some local expression of the Church. We’re happy to help you determine whether or not Grace DC is the right place for you, fully acknowledging that not every church is for every person at every point in their spiritual development.

BECOMING A GRACE DC MEMBER (PROCESS)

Whether if you’ve recently become a Christian or if you’re currently a member of another church and you’d like to transfer your membership to Grace DC, the process is essentially the same:

    1. Membership Seminar
The first step in the membership process is to attend the Membership Seminar, where we will share the vision & values of Grace DC, as well as an overview of the doctrinal beliefs of the church. There you will learn about the vision and values of Grace DC. To register for the next Membership Seminar check our online calendar or email Mel with any questions.

    2. Personal Information and Five Questions forms
After you have completed the seminar and have expressed an interest in joining the church, you will be asked to fill out a Personal Information Form and write out some personal responses to the Five Questions of Membership.

    3. Elder Interviews
You will then be scheduled for an interview with the pastors/elders of Grace DC. (Married couples will be interviewed together.) This will be a time for our pastors/elders to get to know you and to hear about your experience of Christ and your desire to join Grace DC. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the church.

    4. Reception at Worship (and Baptism)
Once you’re approved for membership by Grace DC’s Session (ruling elders and pastors), you will be received formally during a Sunday worship service. During this service, you will take your membership vows (affirm the Five Questions) and receive the sacrament of baptism, if you have not yet done so in a Christian church.

For additional information about our membership process, please email our membership coordinator Mel.
