Characters In God’s Story Living As Carriers Of His Story

Grace DC’s 2007 Retreat, Nov 2-4, was in our favorite Capon Springs in WV.fall-retreat.jpg
Our featured speaker for the weekend was Steve Garber of the Washington Institute, who lead us through some hard questions about faith and culture. For many of us, the conversation is still going on; and may be for some time and we mull over Steve’s thought provoking “discussion questions” for group think after the sessions.

Their lives have recently changed a bit as Greg has taken up the responsibilities of Assistant Pastor at Trinity Church in Charlottesville and full-time PhD student at the University of Virginia. Greg and Courtney have been married for ten years and have two daughters, both of whom are firmly in command of their father. And of anyone else whom they encounter.

Conferences & Seminars

At Grace DC, we understand the need and desire of our congregation for more in-depth training on topics relating to spiritual growth, interpersonal relationships, serving the poor and oppressed, missions, etc. We plan to provide at least one conference per year in the DC area, bringing in speakers from around the country and world who are experts in their field.

Past conferences include a Women’s Conference in December 2004 with speaker Paige Benton Brown, a Perfectionism Conference in October 2005 with speaker Dr. Richard Winter, and a conference on Spiritual journey, Sex, and Rest in January 2007 by Lauren Winter. Click here to download talks from her conference in 2007.

We were delighted to co-host, with Christ our Shepherd, and Church of the Resurrection, a Mercy Ministry Symposium on loving our neighbors in the District, searching for real life answers to these questions about poverty, mercy and justice. Over forty churches and ministries in the DC area came together, represented by over four-hundred fifty people. To listen to talks from the Symposium, or for follow up events, click here.

As we look to meet the needs of our congregation, we will occasionally hold part-day local seminars on a variety of topics.

A recent one-day seminar was a Parenting Seminar with Wilson and Pam Benton, in February 2006. The next one was a Singleness/Dating/Marriage Seminar in June of 2006 led by Glenn Hoburg and Kevin Offner. We also did a seminar on prayer in July of 2007 which was heavily attended.
