This is probably the best housing deal in the DC metro area. We are looking for a CF to assume the lease for a HUGE bedroom in a 3-bedroom townhouse in Fairlington – less than .5 miles from Shirlington. The room rents for $590/month on a month-to-month lease, so you can stay for as few or as many months as you like. The room includes 2 closets – one of which is deep enough to walk into and large enough to sleep in. You’ll share a bathroom with one other woman upstairs. We have a washer and dryer in the house, a backyard, ample free parking, and access to 6 neighborhood pools and multiple tennis courts. The house is very accessible from 395, King Street, Quaker Lane, Arlington, Alexandria, and parts of Fairfax. Multiple bus lines run through the neighborhood and connect to the Pentagon & Ballston Metro stations (less than 10 minute ride to the Pentagon). We’re .5 miles from the Four Mile Run and W&OD trails which makes for great running and biking opportunities. Aside from rent, we split cable/internet (~$18/month each) and electric (varies ~$25-100/month each, depending on season). I have absolutely loved living here for the last 1.5 years and am only leaving to relocate for grad school. The upsides: it’s in a modern building (c. 2009), commands sweeping views of the city south & west, has community amenities including a huge roof deck with gas grills and a bocce lawn. You have your own spacious full bathroom, and can enter & exit the apartment without walking through the main living space. The bedroom can be furnished or unfurnished – your choice. It has a high ceiling, and is 9’3″ x 12′.
The downsides: your bedroom has just two small windows (one facing west, one facing south), and its closet is on far side of your bathroom, so you have to go through the bathroom to get to the closet.
The red tape: because it’s a concierge building, you have to submit an application to the management company and pay for a credit check. They will add you to our lease for the duration of your residency and give you all the privileges of residence. We won’t tell you to do this unless we’re certain we want to share the flat with you, so don’t worry about wasting money on the credit check.
The flatmates: S is an economist at a D.C. think tank. K is a neuroscience Ph.D. student. We’ve been married since 2010, and have no kids yet. We love good churches, board games, bicycling, having friends over, and hiking in the Shenandoah Valley. Our idea of an ideal evening is to have a friend or two over for dinner, share a bottle of wine or a pot of tea, and play a nerdy board game.
The time dimension: You can move in anytime between June 1 and July 1. Ideally, we’d like to meet you first, but that might be tricky on our end for an early June move-in. You can arrange to see the apartment after the current tenant moves out on May 23rd.
The cost: we are paying $2450 plus utilities. We think $1200 furnished or $1150 unfurnished is a reasonable cost for the suite in question, plus 1/2 or 1/3 of utilities (depending on whether you are a single or a couple).

Home on the Hill
What: We have an epic room in a row house right behind the Supreme Court and 2 blocks away from the Capitol dome. The catch? Well for the price, we all live “college dorm style.” We use the entryway as a walk in closet, the family room has two bunk beds, and we all share one bathroom and a kitchen. But don’t let that scare you away! We are all very chill guys and the place is perfect for an intern or someone just moving out to DC. A major positive: The whole house shares a huge communal deck and back patio that is perfect for BBQs.

I’m looking for someone to rent the master bedroom (with private bathroom) in my College Park Woods home. The room (excluding bath) is 180 square feet (12 x 15) and has 2 windows.

CF to sublease for summer
I am looking to sublease my apartment for the summer. I will be leaving the area on May 20 and the lease runs through August 31. I live in Falls Church, just one mile from the West Falls Church metro station. I live with two CFs who share a room and a bathroom, but I have my own room and bathroom. The bedroom is VERY spacious with two closets. My roommates and I all work for Campus Crusade for Christ as interns at two of the colleges in the area (one in Arlington the other in DC). We live right behind a Whole Foods and across the street from a Trader Joe’s. My roommates are very easy to get along with and will be raising support all summer so they’ll be in and out.
