Life of Moses: The Day of the Lord

November 25th, 2007 by Glenn Hoburg

Throughout history there are what we might call Decisive Days. Days that determine destinies, such as Bastille Day, D-Day, Independence Day. Days of deliverance for some, defeat for others. Days of judgment and salvation. The Bibles usage of the phrase “Day of the Lord” functions in a similar way. In its full and final meaning it is the day when the creation dead ends into the Creator; when human history ultimately flows into divine or “redemptive” history. But, before this final Day of the Lord, there are mini days - Israel’s escape through the Red Sea is one of those. And learning about this day will prepare us for that Day.
